Strategic Stewardship

Over the last couple of years I've had the importance of this concept impressed upon me.  It is so easy to get caught up in the daily chaos of life that it becomes very difficult to maintain focus and perspective on what's truly important in life. To that end, I've decided to start to capture these musings, observations, and insights.

I believe wholeheartedly that we come into this world with nothing and leave this world with nothing.  So the question is what do we do with the time and other resources under our control in the meantime?

If you've never really given this more than a passing thought, I suggest you begin to do so now.  This is the starting point for my own personal journey and I invite you join me in this pursuit.

Foundational Premises: Wisdom

I thought it best to start with a few elemental assumptions that have shaped or impacted my views on life in general and will be reflected throughout these musings.

Wisdom:
Is the application of knowledge and understanding to produce the desired results.

Godly or Biblical Wisdom:
Is therefore the application knowledge and understanding from the Bible to produce the desired results in a life that pleases God.

Stewardship:
We are simply the managers of everything God places under our authority (our Time, Talents, Touch (relationships including our marriage, children, extended family, work, ministries, etc...), and Treasures). One day God will call us to account for how we managed what He has placed under us, so we better manage it well.

ABC's of Life:
A - Attitude; Attitude; Attitude
B - Be Honest; Be Open; Be Real
C - Care, Communicate, Compete with all your heart

Sowing & Reaping:
"Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap." - Galatians 6:7 NASB
“Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure--pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.” - Luke 6:38 NASB
Simple stated: "You get what you give." or Whatever you invest in, you'll get back with interest.
I believe this concept is a KEY success principle in life. A law of the universe (if you will). What goes around, comes around. This concept, I've come to realize, applies to every aspect of life (both good and bad) from relationships, to work performance, to finances, etc...
If you love others, you'll be loved by others
If you're patient with others, other will be patient with you
If you're jealous of others, others will give you reasons to be jealous
If you're unfaithful in a relationship, you won't achieve true intimacy in that relationship

Whatever seeds you plant in life will result in a harvest full of the fruits of those seeds. I hope you like what you're planting.
